City of 8000 Population Puts ESRI GIS Utility Maps On Blackberry

June 16, 2009 - Dayton, Ohio - The City of Bryan Ohio has a population of just over 8000 and supplies its citizens with water, wasterwater, electric, phone, cable and high speed internet. And busy is the workload for the City’s engineering and utilities staff – doing more with less is a life style not just a clique. This summer the City plans to use Nextel BlackBerry Smartphones to view GIS utility maps with Freeance Mobile software. Freeance Mobile will allow the City engineering department to combine two existing platforms, ESRI ArcGIS and BlackBerry in-house with easy-to-use plug-and-play configuration software. City Engineer Brian Wieland with have his field crews mapping new GPS points with digital photos and custom forms directly to the existing ESRI ArcGIS Server

Freeance Mobile is being displayed at the AWWA ACE Conference this week in San Diego. Freeance Mobile is in the RIM BlackBerry booth 2830.
