EIGS Partners with MTA to Present Conference on High Technology with Special Focus on Geospatial

September 24, 2009 -- Oxford, MS – The Enterprise for Innovative Geospatial Solutions (EIGS) housed at The University of Mississippi is pleased to partner this year with the Mississippi Technology Alliance (MTA) to present the Tenth Annual Conference on High Technology which is taking place November 18-19, 2009, at the Jackson Convention Complex in Jackson, MS. Being held in conjunction with GIS Day 2009, the Conference will feature special sessions on geospatial information science and technology. For the first time ever, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) joins Mississippi's Annual Technology Conference to celebrate world GIS day by showcasing the agency's cutting-edge technologies.

Geospatial information science and technology is a cross-cutting discipline that spans diverse industries and occupations and is among the top three fastest growing career fields in the U.S. with a 15 percent growth in new jobs projected over the next decade. Mississippi is well-known for its efforts in the geospatial field having made a concerted effort since 1998 to nurture and grow private businesses and academic programs in this growing industry sector.

The conference keynote speaker will be Joel Bomgar, co-founder and CEO of Bomgar Corporation. Joel Bomgar is a high-energy, focus-driven entrepreneur with a true Mississippi success story. Joel will share how he built Bomgar Corporation, ranked by Inc. Magazine as the Fastest Growing Private Company in Mississippi.
