Global Unichip announced today world’s first 4 channel H.264 full D1 real time surveillance SoC GP1680 with HD Display design solution

The GP1680 Surveillance SoC Solution includes complete SDK and reference design reduces substantial system design time for applications like 4/8/16 Channel Real time Full D1 DVR/NVR .

Hsinchu, Taiwan —November 05, 2009 —
Global Unichip Corporation (GUC; TW:3443) announced today mass production of the world’s first surveillance SoC designs solutions capable of 4 channel concurrent encode/decode in real time D1 format. The GP1680 design solution is based on highly integrated SoC platform, targeting the fast growing markets of home security and public surveillance. The GP1680 design solution is optimized to support all the major application segments such as DVR, NVR and IP video surveillance with HD display support. The complete SDK (System Development Kit) and reference design can substantially speeds up design and reduce time-to-market, increases system reliability and significantly lowers total system cost with this highly integrated SoC.

The highly integrated GP1680 SoC surveillance solution supports 4 channel video inputs and deploys a quad module that composes four videos onto one screen for preview application with programmable display layout on the screen. Motion detection function can issue an interrupt if there is a motion captured by the camera with programmable sensitivity and area of interest. GP1680 equips with four H.264 Encoders and H.264 Decoders for video recording and playback. Each H.264 engine is capable of D1 resolution (720x480 or 720x576) image at 30 FPS frame rate. Both D1 and CIF (352x240) mode are supported. Videos can be saved to hard disk in H.264 format through PCI, IDE interface or to devices connected to SDIO / USB OTG interface, while the digital audio interface per each channel can be used for audio recording and playback. Built-in TV encoder can display the video decoded by the H.264 Decoder for playback from Hard disk. In addition, GP1680 support multi-chip solution through PCI bus for up to 16 channels D1 DVR application and the GP1680 is Ethernet ready for easy remote access.

“GUC has commited to provide a complete line of SD/HD surveillance SoC solutions. With the world’s first 4 Channel H.264 Full D1 GP1680 SoC Solution, customers will be able to build a full line of H.264 D1 Realtime products with HD display support for the fast growing video surveillance market easily and quickly” said Percy Tang, Director of SoC Platform Product Marketing, Global Unichip Corp.

GP1680 SoC is in mass production. Complete Software Development Kit (SDK) and DVR design solution including application source code is available. Additional product information for GP1680 SoC Platform is available at http://www.globalunichip.com/4-10.php. Samples are available now from local GUC sales offices and its authorized representatives.

Global Unichip Corp will exhibit at Shenzhen CPSE 2009 Surveillance Show to promote complete GP1680 SoC platform and reference design solutions.
