There is no stopping the cloud revolution. There are too many advantages to SaaS and cloud computing that are already shaping how businesses buy software and manage hardware. Granted it could be some time yet before the desktop is a distant memory in the GIS world, but GIS is no exception and the accessibility, lower cost and flexibility that comes with GIS as a Service means it will eventually take over from today’s Earth-bound solutions.
