In order to protect the public health and safety, the State of New Jersey began to license engineers in 1929. Since that time, nearly 50,000 engineers have been licensed. In order to be a licensed Professional Engineer, an individual must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program, pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, practice for four (4) years under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer, and then pass the Principals and Practice exam and a legal exam.
Boswell Engineering, a full-service, multi-state engineering firm, was founded in 1924 by Kristen's great grandfather, David C. Boswell. The firm offers a comprehensive range of engineering services including transportation, engineering (both roadway and structures), construction engineering, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, municipal engineering, underwater engineering and land surveying.
Boswell Engineering consistently ranks nationally among Engineering News-Record's "Top 100 Construction Management Firms" and "Top 500 Design Firms" and among the top 10 firms in both Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering in the State of New Jersey. The firm is based in South Hackensack, New Jersey, and also has offices in White Plains and Albany, New York.
