well, you definitely need Valea's free mask for my textures to work. I don't know which programm you are refering to. When using DAZ Studio, you can texture the prop even if it is not parented to V4. I noticed in poser 5 though you need to put it onto V4 indeed. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with any other 3D application.
