What it is: ------------ This is a top-break 'pepperbox' using centerfire blackpowder ammo, a victorian-styled fantasy firearm for a 'steampunk' world. The weapon is scaled to be .50 caliber. Given the dimensions of the cartridge case, it's probably going to use about 70 grains of blackpowder and chuck a 405-grain bullet downrange. Figure it's going to have a muzzle velocity of around 900 feet per second, a muzzle energy of around 700 foot pounds or so, falling somewhere between the modern .357 mag and a .44 mag. Calculating by volume and assuming standard gunmetal steel, it's going to weigh on the close order of three and a half pounds. Recoil would be respectable, but the damn thing is so massive its weight alone will tame the recoil down to something you could easily manage one-handed. The hole in the front is a false muzzle. It's just there to let the bullet pass through, doesn't touch the bullet at all. The gun has no rifling - at the ranges this thing will be used at, rifling won't make a whole helluvalotta difference. It's meant for close-combat, and is heavy enough and sturdy enough to be used as a melee weapon when it's empty and you don't have time to reload. This is why the grip is shaped the way it is - to make it easier to use in a 'pistol-whip' attack. The gun is a McLaren Mark IV Model 2, and fires .50 McLaren. The company's name and address is imprinted on the left side of the action. IMPORTANT NOTE: This item REQUIRES Poser 5 or higher, because it makes use of Poser procedural textures on the model. If you try to use this in earlier versions of Poser or in DAZ Studio it won't work, you'll have to re-texture the whole thing, you'll be screaming and cursing and crying and tearing your hair out, it'll be a horrible experience that will likely leave lasting mental scars. To spare you that kind of trauma, I'm warning you now - this item REQUIRES Poser 5 or higher, because it makes use of Procedural Material Nodes.
