A Mallet is two locomotives in one. Twice as nice. A large and powerful Mallet Locomotive and tender from the early 19th century The Locomotive was done in Shade for the fun of it. Mallets were developed from a French engineer's idea for increasing the pulling power of a locomotive without destroying the tracks or derailing in curves. This is a 4-6-6-2. Mallets got bigger than this, having as many as 8 driving wheels (2-8-8-2) and outpulling even today's modern diesels several times over. The track in the picture is RKDungeon's "Railroad" from Renderosity. The model is simple and low-poly for quick rendering. It should render looking rather dirty in Poser. « Less
