If you have some black faces on withe imported object, you need switch orientation this faces. Mark this face in Hexagon, Tools -> Utilites -> Orient normals and click on this face. It will be at the same orientation as other faces.

Thank You, great work! And thank to KnochenKater for tip Tools->Utilities->triangulate N-Gons in DAZ studio. It save me a lot of time.

Thank you.
Having totally failed to grok Blender's bizarre UI, I'm trying Hexagon...

Thought maybe you had me mixed up with someone else...that's okay...this is just a very basic tutorial for modeling stuff in a pinch. Whenever learning about boolean cuts, you should also research info about n-gons if you intend to do serious modeling. Enjoy :)

I am so sorry, I am looking forward to looking at this tutorial, please disregard the comment about the sword.
Thanks again.

Can't wait to look at this tutorial. Your Hexagon "Sword" tutorial was amazing, loved the screens, not to fast, not to slow. Video tutorials are usually so quick you miss a lot of what they are trying to show you. You're screens were PERFECTION!! Thank you so much for taking the time to be so precise and for the fact that the tutorial was still up over at the DAZ forum. more …

This boolean cut tutorial is simple and works great, but research the subject of n-gons if you intend to create models specifically for Poser...just a tip I learned from forum discussions :)

I desperately need to know how to make CLOTHING in Hexagon for V4/Genesis/M4 in DAZ|Studio. I need to create some World War One uniforms, especially German pilot's outfits, such as the visored officer's muntz (cap), dress uniform, pilot's uniform, pilot's overcoat, boots, etc.. such as worn by Von Richthofen, Boelcke, Immelmann, etc.. Also need to know how to do MEDALS such as more …

since gaining better understanding of boolean cut issue unique to DS or Poser import of Hexagon models, other hole creation methods are discussed beginning on this page of forum discussion: http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=139606&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=520

thanks for info, am a Poser user primarily, but helps to know this :)

Thanks! Another important point is to select Tools->Utilities->triangulate N-Gons after boolean cuts if you want to use the object later in DAZ-Studio. DS have some troubles with objects who was created with boolean cuts and have faces with more than 4 vertices (N-gons). Triangulating helps that the object works later properly in DS.
