I can beleive that they did, as they did with much other equipment, but it does seem to create a logistical nightmare. "Stand aside, this is SS water!"
Would there have been separate and dedicated jerrycans for Heer, Marine and Luftwaffe as well?

these German model jerrycans were used for either petrol/gas (Kraftstoff) or water (Wasser), the latter ones usually being covered with extra markings for easy distinction.
Sand yellow and steel grey were standard colours but I do have some doubts about using olive green, a typical enemy colour.
