About the Temple of Sucuriju : "...Some scarce sources of portuguese Amazon expeditions done in the 16th century discribed this mysterious building:
The main-part of it was not build by the Shirishama-tribe, but maybe by a colony of ancestors of the Aztecs or Maya who once settled in the amazon region. As they vanished, hundred years later the Shirishama removed the first two or three steps of the pyramid, so only the lower steps remained. The inner of the cutted down pyramid was rebuild as a large basin too and filled with water and a sacrifying-stone was placed in the middle of the basin.

But this descriptions were made not by eye-witnesses, only by hearing. Another part of the legend are about the snake-sculptures on the sides of the stairway that leads to the basin: There are rumors about inlays in the stone, made of pure gold and if this not enough, the eyes of the snak-sculptures shall be made of rubys bigger as golf-balls. Needless to say, that nobody have ever found this temple until today and it may be not real and only one of the countless legends of the Amazon..."
