The Scuola entrance lay ahead and Sojourner retreated into the courtyard of a Romanesque temple that comprised his classroom located underneath the academy. To his students the Scuola was simply a place of learning from the old Roman Empire-a place where teaching and enlightened discourse engaged them on a daily basis. To Sojourner it was much more than that. It was a dream realized and an academic vision fought for and hard won. In a world of constant learning and exhaustive energy the Scuola was also a place of silence and thoughtfulness, a place to engage in contemplation. For this reason the Scuola was one of the few areas on campus not habitually frequented by anyone unless one needed to be there. Sojourner could count on it being empty whenever he arrived. Tucked away in plain site it remained a private sanctuary hidden to the student body and faculty alike, who being so familiar with it never gave it a passing thought. It was the perfect place from which to covertly operate.
