The 13 Days of Halloween:
“The Scariest Songs”
Hi Folks! Here is my suggestion for Number 7: What’s yours?
#7: Janie’s Got a Gun
Aerosmith, 1989
Same Set Playlist:
Gunpowder and Lead – Miranda Lambert
Bust Your Windows – Jazmine Sullivan
Before He Cheats – Carrie Underwood
"Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody’s on the run
Janie’s got a gun"
A witch with an arsenal of spells can be formidable. But the women in songs like these are dangerous because they’d rather bury you than the grudge. These ladies don’t get mad; they get even, with a flair that could turn Lizzy (Borden) and Lorena (Bobbitt) green with envy. “Thin Line Between Love and Hate,” an R&B classic released 40 years ago by the Persuaders, gets an honorable mention. At the end of that song, the lead singer gives a stern warning from his hospital bed: the sweetest woman in the world can be the meanest woman in the world-- if you make her that way.
