With one of the free content cloudy-slab from Bryce (David Brinnen scenes) ,the church from http://www.sharecg.com/v/45128/View/5/3D-Model/Free-Sample-from-Buildings-Model-Pack-1,the bridge at http://www.sharecg.com/v/51526/browse/5/3D-Model/the-bridge-part2 , the terrain from the free eolian generators scene from Bryce free content and some tweaks made in a half day or so, to the sky,ibl,hdr,ambient, i have created this..interesting scene.Wish to credit and say thanks for the free props content listed above.The rays are 3d volumetric mats applied to a cylinder (fake light) made by me.
Scene size: 1000x562
The main terrain is huge.
Render settings :Quality=Super; Priority = Normal (CPU usage 50%), Optimization AGGRESSIVE
Rendering time is very high.You may want to lower the optimization from aggressive to Normal.
Feel free to play with the scene or save some parts as scene but be warned that rendering for this scene might take long time , it depends on your machine too if you intend to keep the ambient,hdr,ibl settings.
Recommandation: no need to force cpu to 100% by increasing priority to high..there is RESUME render option which is a great feature and allows to resume rendering from a previous saved scene as long as you have the .bmp.
Hope i will release soon a new tutorial version on how to make your perfect volumetric material based rays used in cloudy scenes, underwater,underground or through windows interiors.
