Two lenses one for each eye. Two materials each (one for iris area and one for the pupil area). I've included a low res texture template and an image showing some of the possible uses. Don't forget to parent the lens to the eyeball so they move together.          

Uses that spring to mind are vampires, zombies, aliens or sci-fi. I know you can tweak eyes directly but I wanted something simple that didn't run the risk of me accidently botching one of my genesis testure files.
