IMPORTANT! SEE THE README FOR INSTALLATION DETAILS - THE SHADERBUILDER IBL MUST GO IN A VERY SPECIFIC LOCATION
(24th July 2015 - Ver 2 [UPDATE ONLY] Simple DAZ Studio WorldBall uploaded separately here at ShareCG
(1st July '13: Updated to Version 1a - just a correction to the readme. You need to copy the CONTENTS of the 'Studio3/4 ShaderBuilder Light folder', NOT the folder itself! And you also need to copy them if you use BOTH Poser and DAZ Studio)
A simple 'WorldBall' environment for DAZ Studio 3/4, consisting of a 'WorldBall' prop (an all-encompassing sphere), two DAZ Studio lights (a ShaderBuilder diffuse IBL for global illumination, and a distant light for casting sun shadows), and a groundplane with a ShaderMixer shadowcatcher material.
Five different environment sets (snow, lake, sand, scrub and Mars) and a test environment are included. Each set consists of a 4096x2048 JPG background image and a 1024x512 JPG reflection map (latitude/longitude mapped) image. All sets were created from exactly the same simple terrain in Terragen Classic, but with different sky, lighting, and terrain textures.
There's a DAZ Script ( 'WorldBall Setup DS3,4.dsa') to automate the loading of the prop and creation of the lights and ground. The same script is used to swap environment sets. This script is located in a mapped Poser runtime under Props > 3DCheapskate > WorldBall.
Details of each environment set are held in a plain text data file. The file format is very simple, and hopefully intuitive, so you can easily add your own environment sets.
Don't know how to make your own environment sets? I've done a PDF showing you how easy it is (and it's all done with free software!) - http://www.sharecg.com/v/69300/view/3/PDF-Tutorial/Make-Your-Own-Environment-Maps-And-Light-Probes
There's also a thread on the DAZ forums here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/23706/ for feedback. Suggestions for additional environment sets can be posted there too! « Less
I'm also getting some useful feedback on the DAZ forums, and I'm adding some hints on use there - see link at the bottom of the main description above
just to note - i couldnt get it to work in "My Library" location mentioned in the readme, but after copying the content of DS content folder to an external runtime i have it works fine ;)
It would be interesting to know what they are - that way I can try and fix them! And don't worry, my ego can handle the battering - I like constructive criticism!
