This is a low-resolution object (.obj) resembling grass that when scaled to an appropriate size, assigned a leafy green texture and instanced over a terrain with close spacing will produce a lawn or meadow.  Different colors will produce shag carpet or the like.  The advantage of doing it this way is achieving fairly good realism in the background or mid-ground of your scene with relatively little memory used and fast rendering.  Not for the foreground; no realistic detail in this object but that's why it uses little memory.  1st image below is a close up of the object with no texture, and the 2nd image is the object with texture and instanced (~2000 times) over a terrain.  Both renders done in Bryce 7.0.
