In episode 9 we experience first hand what a Citizen's "life interview" is all about.

This is an interlude to the main plot (the life of Steve Malore, cryogenically frozen and woken up in a time he didn't choose).

We catch a glimpse of the wheels of power controlling peoples lives without giving them a chance to prosper over and above their designated station in life.

Designated by the state that is. I wrote this to pass comment on how those in power ensure that the rest of us never succeed (as employees) despite our talents, hard work ethic etc.

At least that's been my experience. Better to be self-employed if you can survive that way. No one is artificially grading you.
