A glass of beer with foam. Make sure you have raytracing at 4 or more bounces.

The glass and liquid use Poser's Fresnel_Blend node - very accurate.

Nothing like a good pilsner with a equally good head to it!

Another masterful item from the master of textures! thank you, BB!

The bug was in the old "Fresnel" node, not the new "Fresnel_Blend" node.

Thank you so much for sharing this :-)
Today I encountered a problem trying a glass shader for glass on a image frame: I used fresnel_blend to blend refraction and reflection, feeding it to the Alt_Diff, but I received a double (ghost) of the underlying image on the glass. I then remembered having read somewhere some time ago a comment from you, telling you had discovered a bug in the more …

A wonderfull lesson about shaders from the Master of Shaders. Many thanks!

Btw, I am terribly missing a shader for ice cubes....

Raytracing through 4 surfaces is very demanding and requires extreme accuracy in handling the geometry and lighting as well as the refraction itself. Poser only recently got a bug fix that makes the back-facing-polygon refraction correct, and there are always refraction artifacts at polygon boundaries with Poser. If you don't see them, you got the angles and settings right enough to make more …

It's working fine in Poser pro 2014, default setting I get a black line on top & bottom, medium settings it looks great & on my medium high preset it looks amazing.

I'm also getting a few black panels/partial panels (more-or-less matching the mesh faces) - IDL, raytracing, 4 bounces. But I'm using Poser 9 (ref Missnancy's comment below) so that may be the cause?
The golden nectar and the foamy head render very nicely - best I've seen/tasted!

grapevin - I may have misunderstood your question. I now begin to wonder if you did not turn on raytracing and have at least 4 bounces in render settings.
grapevin (9 years ago)Inappropriate?
Thanks for your reply. You have designed this object especially for Poser. Then what is the solution for the glass in Poser Firefly in order to the render is same to the image of the promo?
bagginsbill (9 years ago)Inappropriate?
Poser Firefly does not use refraction as a light path for lighting - only for seeing. So the glass, despite being transparent via refraction, is opaque.

thx fr glass, BB! if they get black panels in glass, may not be using PP2015 SR 5.1 or later. I got 'em whilst using PP2012.
grapevin (9 years ago)Inappropriate?
Good work! but in the render why the glass appear black?
