Cool thanks for this. Changing the label. OK |

that would be so very welcome! cuz i barely have a clue as where to start to make those textures.. paint smears on the label, ok. on the metal, do-able. but have them kinda match, and the get the disp right over both? not skilled enough ^^ |

Yep, the dirty versions are all done with Poser procedurals (because I enjoy playing in Poser's Material Room!) But I've always found DAZ Studio's ShaderMixer/ShaderBuilder more pain than fun, and gave up trying to do a DS version. I tried again a month or two ago and had no luck. Maybe I'll have another try. |

thanks! nice little prop! options/morphs are cool (using daz tho' - trying to replicate the dirty effects but in vain, and wondering how you got the dirty labels etc WITHOUT textures.. poser procedurals?) |

Addendum to usage rights change - (Of course this only applies to the label. If you change the label to your own design the usage rights are 'Unrestricted') |

N.B. 17th Oct 2016 - Usage rights changed from 'Unrestricted' to 'Non-commercial use only' just in case. The Goblin branding does have a certain similarity to another brand... |

Thanks everybody :) I'm trying to do one of the really old glass paint-pots too... remember those? Also a paintbrush and the compulsory jam-jar of thinnersare on the way. No ETA yet though. |

Really cool! I've still got a few of these lying around the house. Great job! |

The included scene file is for the promo image, saved from Poser 9. It also uses the sphere from my worldball with the Concrete Plaza environment map. |

Note: The embossed '1027' is a single image. If you apply one of the other colour MC6 materials they have different numbers, but use four separate images - one per digit. Simply select a different digit image to change the relevant number. The two MC6 files in the 'Emboss' folder let you switch between the 1 and 4 image versions. |

Another observation. Render settings - displacement: Ensure this is enabled. The embossed number on the lid is plugged into the the Displacement channel (you can swap that to Bump if you prefer). Also the paint splashes on the 'old' and 'very old' materials use displacement - bump just didn't do it for me. |

Another observation. Render Settings - reflection. The paint surface inside the pot and the interior of the pot/lid use reflection. Ensure reflection is enabled, and ensure that there is something to reflect ! If you use my worldball remember to manually enable the 'Visible In Raytracing' checkbox on the worldball sphere. Note that you'll almost definitely run out of bounces on the more … |

A couple more observations. Shadows: If you use depth-mapped shadows you may get square shadows about twice the size of the pot (and in Poser 6 the pots also render totally black). I believe this happens with very small objects. Changing to ray-traced shadows resolves this. But if you use ray-traced shadows you may get a thin black ring shadow on the paint surface inside the pot. Reducing the Min more … |

Also I just noticed that the props and materials are simply in "Poser 6" and "Poser 9" folders at the top of the library. They should (of course) be in subfolders 3DCheapskate > Workshop > Paint |

Yes, the pots are very small! They're scaled to be used by a standard Poser figure (maybe that was a mistake? Maybe I should have kept them at about a third of the height of a standard figure as in the picture I recently uploaded?) Because the textures (except the the label) are all procedural when you scale up the pot you'll need to adjust all the texture scales. That's a bit of a more … |
