Tweaked my Simple SSS to work better in Poser Firefly and SuperFly renders, using the same base textures and details. And it's backwards compatible with Poser 9!
#1: Rendered in SuperFly and 3DCheapskate's WorldBall for background and light source. (IDL)
#2: Same scene rendered in Poser 11 with Firefly IDL and minor adjustments for lighting.
#3: Imported the same scene in Poser 9 and rendered with Firefly IDL. Added shaders to manually apply gamma and color correction on background and lighting.
Notes:
+ When using IDL in Firefly, tone mapping and exposure in addition to gamma correction are essentially to getting a decent render. The right mapping to depends on the image used for the light source. I used exponential, but if the render seems under-saturated, use HSV instead. However, I noted that HSV mapping in Poser 9 tends to over-saturate. Manually setting the image saturation with a shader gives more control.
+ Though Firefly and SuperFly both support HDR images for IDL, they interpret dominate hues differently. For this test, I used a basic JPEG and got more consistent results. However, the lack of proper gamma correction in Poser 9 made color correction much more difficult. I had to boost saturation and gain before manually applying gamma. The end result isn't great, as the highlights in the background turned out flat. In Poser 9, it's best to stick with an HDR image. « Less
