@Zatanna: I hadn't seen the movie, but it was based on reality. The French semaphore system was often used for sneaky purposes like front-running stock trades. The modern electronic version continues the tradition. |

There was a "Count of Monte Cristo" movie made in the 1970s that featured a semaphore station which the Count used to send a false message in order to ruin one of the men who had falsely accused him. |
