Created originally for NATO as a Close Support and Recon Drone to support Infantry and Special Operations units, the UAV-18 gained from advanced technologies developed for later aircraft. It can operate by remote control of friendly ground forces, or autonomously under a pre-programmed flight profile, and is even able to engage in combat on its own thanks to an advanced AI computer system. The UN Fleet adopted the Specter and it was upgraded to enable the drone to act as a Combat Air Patrol craft for shipboard operations, and it can use data relayed from the Mother-ship's radar and sensors to intercept enemy attacks and defend the task-group... freeing the other aircraft of the Fighter Wing for attacks and support!
