This looks rather interesting and worth a try, thank you. I totally disagree with using the SubsSurface node in this arrangement, it's really a redundant feature. Subsurface channel on the PrincipledBsdf controls the amount of intensity of your SSS, too much can cause overall exaggeration of SSS. I recommend a numeric value of 0.01 to start.
